Grove takes its inspiration from Van Gogh's evocative paintings of olive trees—a subject I have explored extensively in my own artistic journey. There is something undeniably captivating about the vivid interplay of bright blue and yellow in this palette that resonates deeply with Vincent’s unique vision. Van Gogh’s olive groves were located near the asylum in Saint Rémy, where he stayed multiple times during moments of profound struggle and depression. As a former preacher, Van Gogh found in these groves a powerful symbol, reminiscent of the Garden of Gethsemane, offering him a profound source of strength, solace, and spirituality. Similarly, during my residencies and numerous trips to Italy, I have spent countless hours immersed in painting and drawing among ancient olive trees, discovering in them a timeless sanctuary of peace, reflection, and healing.
